when you take the font cover off the universal garage door remote control , you will see the little black button inside. This is the  programming button for the garage door remote control replacement

  1. Press and hold the black program button on your garage door remote until the blue light comes on on the remote.
  2. Press the yellow learn button on the liftmaster garage door opener on the ceiling this is usually under the light cover or on the back of the unit.
  3. You now have both lights on and in programming mode.
  4. Decide which side of the remote controls buttons you're going to program.
  5. Now press the remote button and let it go, do this slowly and count 8 presses.
  6. On the 8th press the opener head unit should click and flash its light bulbs.
  7. Once the light flashes you can now press the black program button inside the remote to take it out of programming the blue light on the remote should go out,
  8. Your first button on your remote is now ready to get your opener going so press the remote and see your garage door start to raise or go down.
  9. If you have a second opener of the same brand do the same procedure for the other button on your remote control.

  6. On the 2nd press the opener head unit should click and flash its light bulbs.
  7. Once the light flashes you can now press the black program button inside the remote to take it out of programming the blue light on the remote should go out,
  8. Your first button on your remote is now ready to get your opener going so press the remote and see your garage door start to raise or go down.
  9. If you have a second opener of the same brand do the same procedure for the other button on your remote control.
